Where the
river lives
The river shapes New Orleans.
The Batture is where we gather to enjoy it.
A place for sunset picnics, dinners overlooking the great lawn, and cold drinks with friends after a stroll through Audubon Park. A place where families, neighbors, and visitors come together by the Mississippi.
This space is our offering to the city.

About us
For more than 150 years, this stretch of riverfront sat behind fences.
Now it’s open to the neighborhood again.
The Batture is a 10-acre green space along the banks of the Mississippi River in Uptown New Orleans. Once a working marine yard, it’s becoming a place where neighbors can gather by the water again—something surprisingly rare in a city shaped by the river.
These days, the space is already starting to take on a new rhythm.
Families spread out on the grass.
Friends meet up after work.
Kids run around while ships drift past on the river.
Food trucks roll in, the breeze comes off the water, and the whole place begins to feel like a shared backyard for Uptown.
Over time, The Batture will continue its transformation into a riverfront gathering place for New Orleans. A wide open lawn, restored industrial structures, and the best of local food and drink will reconnect the neighborhood to the Mississippi in a way that hasn’t been possible here for generations.
More than a park, The Batture is meant to feel like a front porch on the river—an easygoing place to meet friends, catch the sunset, bring the kids, linger a little longer than planned, and take in one of the best views in the city.
