The Batture is a 10-acre stretch of green space on the banks of the Mississippi River in Uptown New Orleans. Previously an industrial yard, The Batture opens this stretch of the riverfront to the community for the first time in over 150 years.

What was once a closed-off industry is now a shared backyard for Uptown—a place to catch the breeze off the River, stretch out on the grass, and enjoy food from local trucks with neighbors. Early programming is already bringing people together, planting the seeds of what will grow into a true collective space for the neighborhood.

Looking ahead, The Batture will continue its transformation into a natural riverfront enclave and gathering place for New Orleans. With a pristine great lawn, restored and reimagined structures, and the best of local food and drink, it will extend the neighborhood to the riverbank and celebrate the River as a living part of daily life. More than just a park, it will be a front porch on the Mississippi—where families, friends, and neighbors can come together to share the simple joys of our city for generations to come.
